About this pro

I’m a professional artist with 37 years of teaching experience in painting, drawing, design, photography, and sculpture. My students range from beginner to expert.

I am proficient in using any medium, including mixed media, and most specialized in acrylic and oil. You can view my profile and portfolio at www.arniongallery.com.

Our studio is a friendly yet focused environment, and there will be a few other students who work on their own project.

You would need to prepare your materials, but I could advise you on which brand and products would work best for your project.

I love arts. I began my journey as an artist since I was 6, and I enjoy communicating with fellow artists (including my students!) about latest art-related issues, art history, and artistic passion.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I talk to a new student about what kind of project they would like to work on. Then I advise on which materials to bring.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from Chugye University for the Arts with B.A and held numbers of solo / group exhibitions. The details can be found on my website.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My art lesson fee are based on both hourly rate & project type.

How did you get started teaching?

When I was 19 years old, some students who went to the same high school asked me to teach them art. It was the first time I ever taught art and it was just great to share my knowledge and skills! A few years later, I started my own art studio to offer more professoinal and well-organized lessons. It's been 37 years now!

What types of students have you worked with?

I most work with high school students who dream of entering an art college or university. I also help people with autism to bring out their creativity and artistic talent. Additionally, I've worked with older people who wish to learn art as a hobby.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I held an exhibition at George Billis Gallery in Los Angeles back in 2019 with my son. The exhibition theme was "Father and Son" and it was just amazing to see my son, whom I taught art since his younger years, grown up to be a great artist.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

There are many professional artists, but not all of them has a teaching experience or strong technical skills. Look for someone

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Is there any specific project you'd like to work on? What do I love painting or drawing? Is there any medium I'd like to try?
