Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Number one is patience and listening to how best teach each individual. I give an outline with each lesson as to what is to be worked on each week which includes theory, technic at all lessons including flash cards with beginners. I give pointers on how to practice and problem shooting as well as how much time to spend practicing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition yo my performance classes and other music classes at SJSU I have had about 8 years of private study in pedagogy.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 for the 30 minute lesson and $45 for the 45 minute lesson. The tuition is payable by the month and is prorated for 44 lessons in a 12 month period. Therefore the monthly fee is stable.
How did you get started teaching?
I began study of piano at the age of 6 and participated in many recitals for about 8 years. Later after my family was school age I went back to study piano and began college.

Bright and not so bright and handicapped. Young as 5 and old as 65+. I have had many challenges but always stay with them until they learn. It is rewarding for me.
