About
My name is Franklin Van Gurp. I am a current professional baseball player with 7 year of pro experience and counting. I was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2017, traded to the San Diego Padres & also played for Seattle Mariners. I am offering my baseball coaching expertise in the Valley Area.
In my 10 years of coaching and 24 years of playing experience, I've found that the most effective coaching method is being able translating ideas in a simple and efficient way that athletes can apply to their game in the shortest realistic timeframe. I specialize in MULTIPLE positions such as catching hitting, pitching and infield.
Being a versatile player myself & playing multiple positions at a young age has helped me succeed over my pairs not only from PRO scouting standpoint but also with college recruiting. Being able to play multiple positions will always be a key stone and asset to landing a full scholarship at the Division 1 level. The bases of my career and training consist of hard work, attention to detail and no self limitations.
Letting your journey dictate your path through self discovery and real evaluation. Never limiting your ability to just got out there understand that we’re playing a kids game and have fun.
From a developmental standpoint being athletic and teaching the body to move gracefully & change direction will be the best form of force production. Understanding where the body is in space and coordination.
Personal background: In my player career I was privileged enough to play at 3 Division 1 colleges such as Florida State University as a catcher/third baseman, powerhouse Juco Chipola College (Catcher, Pitcher), and then transferring to Florida International University where scouting saw potential in me due to my personable attitude and athletic abilities.
Having the privilege to be part of such a competitive environment has helped me reach where I am today, learning from these amazing coaches that preached hard work and putting the time in no matter how the body feels. Day in and day out the challenge was building men of the future. The main goal play hard, get it done and respect the game.
I've dedicated years of personal resources to gain knowledge and experience for my coaching career & will do my all to translate it in the most simple and effective way.
My primary goal is to help athletes improve both on and off the field. I specialize in optimizing baseball players' mechanics, power production and refining raw tools.
Throughout my coaching career I've had the opportunity to work with athletes ranging from T ball to Pros, providing me with valuable insights into each individual's journey. From coaching players in the Dominican Republic who use minimal equipment to collaborating with top facilities in Arizona such as Push Performance, X2, and Driveline,
