About
I teach a variety of drawing and painting media, color theory, concept, cartooning, caricature, and creativity. I am an experienced Art Instructor, having led an Illustration School for 20 years for University students. I have worked with all ages as well as students from many continents. I have had opportunity to teach art workshops internationally. I have a BFA in Illustration from Art Center College of Design. I have facilitated many Art Exhibitions as well as exhibited work myself along with free-lance projects for clients.
I really enjoy teaching art techniques and concepts and helping each individual student find their unique message or expression. I especially enjoy painting in Acrylic as it is quick drying, versatile, and can make so many textures very easily. I also enjoy drawing people of many cultures. I have taught figure, action, fashion and foundational drawing many years. I have also taught professional colored pencil which is a versatile media as well. I like to motivate, inspire, and encourage!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach foundational skills as well as advanced techniques. I like to cater to the specific needs and experience level of each student. Discussion as well as taking a look at any previous work you've done will help guide the starting point. Setting goals for the development you would like to accomplish is also part of my strategy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in Illustration from Art Center College of Design. I have a broad range of teaching experience. I taught Illustration at the University level for 20 years. I have also taught children of all ages in private schools, workshops, and one on one instruction. In addition I taught through State Parks and Recreation courses and am currently teaching through an Art Studio franchise. I have helped students develop their portfolios, prepared Art Exhibitions, and done a variety of professional artwork myself.
