Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have a 3-minute introduction. I tell them a little about myself, (how long I've been teaching, art degree, how I started, etc.) Then, we go over our art materials and how we will do a step by step process. I will teach tricks & techniques along the way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Arts. I majored in computer graphics & multi-media. I've worked for many companies as a print & digital marketing coordinator. However, traditional illustrating is what I love the most. I became an Art Instructor in 2015 & been loving it.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1) I mostly do private paint & sip parties of 10+ people @ $30 each (2-hour session). I travel to their venue of choice & provide all the art materials.
2) I hold a public event at Coral Tree Cafe-Encino every Friday from 6-8pm. 1st hour is happy hour. Everyone is welcome.
3) I also do private sessions for individuals (6 or less) at $50/person (1-1.5 hour session).
How did you get started teaching?
For a group, I do my introduction & go from there. I socialize with them & make them feel comfortable throughout our session.
For individuals, I'd like to get to know my students and find out what they like and why they'd like to start painting or crafting. I also would like to know their goals or what they'd like to accomplish with our sessions.
What types of students have you worked with?
All different types. From the ages of 6 years old to senior citizens.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm fond of all of them really. I especially love meeting students who have never painted before. At the end of our sessions, they are in disbelief of how they did so well with their first portrait.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I'd say, make sure they are not pressured. Painting & crafting are usually therapeutic & relaxing. The more comfortable they are, the better your art will turn out awesome!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Any questions are good questions. Don't be shy.
