Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing i do is to find out from my students what their ultimate goals is.
The second thing I do is meet with them via video to have a conversation, my goal here is to find out if we are a great fit as Teacher and Student.
In the past I have had to fire students, onlt two but this has caused me to become more strict about my process for taking on new students.
Third, it is important for me to educate my students on the importance of fluids and exercises needed specifically for people in the industry of Acting, Speaking and Singing.
Fourth I will often ask a potential student to do a series of warm ups and stretches and then have them sing something for me like a nursery rhyme of sorts.
This is very helpful for me to gage what level they're at.
And Finally Fifth, at this time I will give a potential student an assessment of where i believe they're at and the areas they need to work on in my opinion.
If at this point we are in agreement and they have enjoyed the orientation process we can move forward.
Obviously my process is different for each skill set. but I am just as passionate about everything I do and how I do it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied under several chior directors and Teachers myself for decades and have developed my own style of teachings combining everything I've learned over the years.
I myself have received compliments and praise from, award winning Vocal Coaches and assisted them in finding solutions to help their own students get past a certain challenge they were having.
I have many sites online where I can be seen performing and sharing my talents with the world.

How did you get started teaching?
A fan approached me and asked if I had been studying under a certain Opera professor at a local University near where I used to live, her and her friend felt certain I must have been one of his students due to my technique being flawless, my range and breathing.
The fan was shocked to learn that I had not ever been one of his students and that I had honed my craft after many years of live performances with only an award winning coach that assisted me very little over the years, as he felt that I had very little to improve upon vocally.
After this happened, I found myself being approached by several of my fans, asking me if I would give vocal lessons to their son or daughters, I was even asked by the vocal coach I paid $90 an hour to critique me to help out with one of his song writing coaching weekends.
It became clear that I had a way of performing that people liked, enjoyed watching and wanted their children to learn, I then decided that I hat to learn how to coach so that I could assist these students to be the best they can be.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who used vocal lessons to help overcome confidence issues.
My students range in age from 6 to 68 at the moment.
I've actually helped younger students learn how to deal with bullying, shyness, speech issues and have seen my students thrive.
I have worked with Mother and daughter duo's, boy bands and solo artists, from Folk, Country, Delta Blues, Gospel, to Rap, Soul, Jazz and RnB
Some have gone onto musical careers and some have not, but their memories of working with me is something I know they will cherish for many years to come.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am so encouraged and fond of all of the musicians that have been coming together from all walks of life during this pandemic, to show us all just how much music matters in our lives.
My Favorite was hanging out in James Taylor's living room while he performed on Facebook as well as The Boss's tribute.
I' glad I am who I am and that I do what I do, and just like these performers, I let music speak through me and tell the message it has to share.
Anytime I get to witness that is a day I am filled.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure that your teacher is passionate about music, teaching and is not limited to certain ideas or genres.
If your teacher is limited, there's only so much they can teach you and only so far they can take you.
Always be authentic to who you are and know what you deserve from a teacher, sometimes a teacher can learn good habits from their students too, this isn't a one way street.
Be sure they are open minded and will push you in the right ways at the right time. A student is only as good as the teacher, choose wisely!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time do they have to practice?
Are they interested in classical training or contemporary?
Are they able to afford weekly lessons.
As an Adult, can they afford a minimum of Bi-weekly lessons?
Are they willing to follow instructions on certain habits that work in favor of their success?
Can they keep a journal?
Can they keep their appts unless it's an emergency?
Do they have a reliable internet connection?
Do they have an e-mail account where they can receive lesson plans?
Is this something they will enjoy?
