About
I love to create and get others excited to create. I am fearless in my approach to new things, patient in delivering new information and ideas, and compassionate to the range of emotions humans experience while learning. Above all, learning can be fun, and that is my focus.
I enjoy the process just as much, if not more than the end product. I also particularly enjoy watching someone encounter a new skill and light up with curiosity and new confidence. The beginners mind is the best approach to anything, and I do my best to hold that space while sharing techniques I may have already mastered. There is always something new to learn.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
These days with so many people suffering from screen fatigue, I like to find out what brings a person joy in their learning process. From there I may develop a customized curriculum or design a workshop with this in mind. Curiosity, joy and patience are key to learning anything new. Primarily I work 1-1 or in small pods, so I have an intake form & discovery call to learn more about each student or group.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied studio arts (metalsmithing, fiber arts and photography) at Cabrillo College. I have taken workshops amd taught myself a lot through experimentation and being involved una creative community. I used to design and sell unique leather accessories, and today make Screen printed apparel, paint and draw. I have had a thriving henna body art business for 20 years. I have taught all ages from pre-school to seniors, and continue to develop new ways of connecting people to learning, and tapping into their creativity. I live and work at the Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz, where I also collaborate and skill share with other artists. I am also a certified Restorative EcoChef and teach cooking for wellness.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have an exact standard. My rates will vary depending on the length and materials, and whether it's a one time workshop or a series of lessons. I do offer some scholarships for those who demonstrate a need and willingness to grow. In general my hourly rates for individual private lessons range from $45-80 per hour, and small groups of 3 from $25-45 per hour, again based on subject matter, commitment and materials provided.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching while raising my daughter, and becoming a working artist. I love to learn, and also love to introduce people to new ideas, tools and techniques for self-discovery and creative play.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love the Santa Cruz Makers Market for the diversity and curated array of crafters and creatives.
