About
My name is Courtney, and I have been playing the cello for 30 years. I am classically trained with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in cello performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and The Peabody Conservatory of Music.
I have taught hundreds of kids and adults alike, from beginning to advanced skill level! I deeply love the cello and teaching students of all ages how to make beautiful music.
I bring passion, skill, and deep love of the instrument to each and every student I am lucky enough to work with.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My goal with a new student is twofold: learn how to read bass clef and start learning how to hold and play the cello. We would start with plucking, then move onto the bow. We will work on the basics of how to produce a good cello sound, and then get to work on pieces!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a cellist for 25 years. I have two degrees in cello performance: a Bachelors of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master of Music from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. I have been teaching privately for almost 10 years. I worked for the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music from 2014-2019, and had my own cello studio of 30 students in Wisconsin from 2013-2019. I love teaching new students how to play the cello!
