About
Hi, my name is Jane and I’ve been teaching art lessons online and in person for 5 years with both children and adults. I’m also in Art school, studying for a BFA in Art Education, and I’ll begin my third year in the autumn.
I teach the basics of drawing and painting , such as line weight, shading, brush techniques, composition, format, and I consult on the artistic process using my one daily practice of art as a template, as well as introducing artists that my students can learn from.

How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching after obtaining my degree in art education from Santa Monica College.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with kids and adults in a private or group setting teaching beginner to intermediate drawing with pencil, charcoal, and pastels, as well as watercolor, acrylic and oil painting. I also teach procreate.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire someone whose art work inspires you. I put up some of my work on my profile so students can get a better idea of my art journey. Also make sure you look at a few profiles first before deciding on someone to pick to work with. If their first few lessons don't work out and it is not a good match, let the teacher know, we understand that this is an investment of your time and money.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What materials they may need if they are unsure what to get or the best places to get them. Also the amount of time they should be practicing their craft everyday.
