Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If student is a beginning player: start off with technical foundation (hand placement on grip, stance, swing) and hand feeds to practice motion and timing.
If student has played tennis before: start off with hand feeds to check their technique and see some details we can work on. After corrections, drills with racquet feeding and/or, if needed, rallying with them so they play with an active ball so they don't get used to a slowly fed ball.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Former collegiate player with 15+ years of experience in competitive tennis; worked as a coach for a club (intermediate adult clinics and giving all-level private lessons for 4 years); high school coach since 2022; hired for hitting lessons so high school students prepare for tournaments/matches.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
- $40 hitting session (rallying/playing a set or a match)
- $50 regular lessons (in-depth technique lesson/drills/footwork/strategy)
How did you get started teaching?
Started coaching adult clinics at a club. After that, players started recommending me as they saw improvement in their game and was hired for private lessons aside.
What types of students have you worked with?
Kids, adolescents and adults for both competitive and recreational levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have been coaching high school tennis in East County since 2022 and am now going into my second year as a Head Coach for both Boys' and Girls' Tennis.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Curiosity is highly encouraged! I love when students ask me questions regarding technique, strategy, foot work, or even tennis fun facts. I'll always find the way to make tennis fun and get better every day!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I'm fully open to any doubts and questions! You can always learn something new with tennis, and questions are great since there's always room for improvement!
