Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Asking them a few questions to see what level of art to begin with and what projects to do.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-I have previosuly had Art Education classes where I had to teach 2nd and 3rd grade.
-Studio Art BA who has taken all sorts of classes such as begining drawing, intermediate drawing, begining painting, oil painting, figure painting, figure drawing, ceramics 1 and 2, 3D Sculpting, 2D and color theories, illustration, etc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I make a lesson for the student which is scheduled for the day they're available, the student can reach me all day about any questions. I make slides, photo instructions and videos at times then the student sends or posts they work on the online class. I charge from $25 per lesson depending on how much will need to be covered (my time putting everything together for the student). I don't charge extra for the student contacting me anytime about questions. Each lesson has a final project.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children making arts and crafts, 3D models, and painting. I am curently teaching painting for any age group at Pour Paint and More, were students finish a complete painting in 2-3 hours. I also have private online lessons for each student from painting lessons to teaching one student a specific lesson she requested for perspective and building up a sketch before painting it.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I gave a child his 1st painting lesson in which he completed someting he was proud of, he has never painted before.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is to hire someone who is within this major! As there are a lot of hobbist teaching but it is not the same as an experienced person in this area. The place I work for had a lot of hobbist who dodn't know what they were doing and the students weren't happy about it.
