Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I find out what the students want to learn to make and what they are interested in. For painters, I want to know if the students want to focus on Portraits, Landscapes, or abstract work. I'll also want to gauge a new student's skill levels by looking at what they create in the first class and assessing past artwork. I also find out more about what they are interested in creating so I can tailor the class to their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an AS in Studio Arts and am currently studying Art History and Humanities at Modesto Junior College. I've also undergone several years of training in Drawing, Sculpting, Mixed Media Painting, and Jewelry Making at 4-H, a youth development program designed to help kids "make the best better".
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with both middle-aged students and kids 11-18 at varying skill and experience levels.
