We pride ourselves in providing certified instruction in a stress free, safe, and fun environment. This is vital for new students to increase their ability to learn and retain what is taught. We do not teach "boot camp" style. For experienced shooters, we provide challenging new skills in a progressive and comprehensive manner that focuses on safety first. We are NRA certified and California Department of Justice certified firearms instructors.
Shooting guns can be very intimidating for many. It takes rare skills to mitigate or eliminate their anxiety. We take great satisfaction in watching the nervousness dissipate as classes progress and students become more confident in their ability to safely handle a firearm and understand how safe shooting can be. For our experienced shooters, it's always a joy knowing they learned new skills and techniques to improve their skills.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We take a positive hands-on approach to assisting all students by providing detailed information on all our courses and walking them through the scheduling and registration process. Courses are listed on our website, FB page, and NRA web site but we also schedule courses by request.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We provide NRA certified rifle and pistol courses for beginners as well as experienced shooters seeking more education on the correct firearms and range safety protocol, something many shooters never learned on their own. We provide monthly follow-on training for all students to hone their shooting skills. We are certified and approved by both Riverside and San Diego County Sheriff to provide the required CCW Safety Training and Qualification Course for those seeking to obtain their concealed carry permits. We also provide private training specifically designed for the students needs.

Cost is per student. There is an additional $30 range fee for those who are not members of Rainbow Shooting Range.
NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course 8 hrs - $135
CA CCW Initial Safety Training and Qualification 8 hrs- $200 for 3 guns, $30 each additional gun.
CA CCW Renewal Safety Training and Qualification 4 hrs -$120 or 3 guns, $30 each additional gun.
CA CCW Permit Modification - $30 per gun
NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation 3 hrs - $120
Intermediate Defensive Pistol Course 4 hrs - $150
Follow-on Training:
NRA Marksmanship Program 2 hrs $35
Pistol Skills Development Workshop USPSA 2 hrs $40
Private lessons - $100/hr 2 hrs minimum

How did you get started teaching?
Gary is a retired Marine serving 25 yrs. NRA Certified Training Counselor, Pistol and Rifle Instructor, Chief Range Safety Officer, and California Department of Justice Certified Firearms Instructor.
Konnie is an NRA Certified Pistol and Rifle Instructor, Range Safety Officer, and California Department of Justice Certified Firearms Instructor.
What types of students have you worked with?
We worked with students as young as 10 yrs old, senior citizens, and those with physical disabilities. Our students range from those who have nevert touched a gun in their lives to the very experienced with military, law enforcement, and competition back grounds.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In October, we brought 11 students to Front Site Training Institute in Pahrump, NV for a 4-Day Defensive Handgun Training event. The course lists for $2,000 but we were able to provide certificates to cover the cost. All the students were extremely satisfied with the event and grateful that we could host this event. We look forward to doing the same again next year.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS! There are many out there that provide training based only on their personal skills that may not meet national standards. We prride ourselves at not only being certified by the NRA and Cal DOJ, but also providing a stress free, safe, and fun environment that allows students to learn quickly without the anxiety inherent with most new shooters.
