About
I have been teaching art for over 16 years in private and public schools, as well as privately in tutor groups. Many of my students receive awards and ribbons at local art shows. They learn how to draw and not just copy a picture. I have seen many grow not just in art skills of drawing or painting, but in confidence and self esteem.
Many of these students and their accomplishments can be seen on my website www.Art-N-You.com or on FaceBook: Art-N-You.
I enjoy seeing childrens and adults faces light up when they are quite pleased with what they have drawn and tha it actually looks the way they imagined. It is a skill to develop breaking down and object into managable pieces and drawing it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Many students want to improve their art skills, I look at past sketchbooks, paintings and drawings so I can better understand what they have learned. I ask them what do they desire in improving and help them achieve those goals by doing a specialized art program around what subject or medium they desire to improve in. Some students are brand new and need foundational skills, which I teach along with how to use their art tools more affectively. I bring visual aids so that students work from a subject of their chosing. I ask students to practice outside of class time if they desire to see improvement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching art for 15 years in public, private, and home school settings. I have a BA degree in Architecture with an art history emphasis that I recieved at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. In my senior year of college I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. I still continue to take yearly art workshops to improve my art skills and to learn new techniques. And I still enjoy traveling to various countries to expereince a variety of art and culture this beautiful world has to offer.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40 an hour at my home/ studio. I also travel to other people's homes or schools. My rate increases to $50 /hr depending on the distance and how many students. At a school I charge $60/ hr. I am willing to work with PTA groups and organizations if they need to contract longer contracts with their students.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching when my children were young. I first was part of a home-school group. Later as my children transitioned to a private school in Sierra Madre, I was hired at their school to teach art. Later, we moved to Camarillo and I began working at another private school. In 2004 I opened my business called Art N' You and have taught at almost every school in Camarillo as well as most of the elementary schools in Ventura. I now have branched out to teach seniors in senior homes as well as adults using Art Therapy tools I learned through a program called " Art As A Healing Tool" in Santa Monica, CA.
