About
I'm a retired Management Consultant. I've taught classes on many topics for universities, state of CA, and many corporate clients. In 2013 I decided to hang out my shingle as a Professional photographer after 40 years as a hobby and studying photography with some of the photography greats like Ansel Adams. I can help you with any aspect of photography from how to best use your equipment to how to edit photos using Adobe Software like Photoshop, Lightroom, or Luminar 4 (base software is free). Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Group classes and individual handled very differently from a pricing standpoint. For individuals it is primarily an hourly charge with discounts for multiple/repeat lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
It was part of my job and something I enjoyed.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels of photography skills and ages.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have clear goals of what you'd like to improve. Have examples of your best work and what you'd like to do better.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Photography can be taught to anyone with an interest. Expensive equipment is not required because photograph priciples apply to any camera whether it's a cellphone, to an entry camera, or even high end equipment you'd just like to learn how to use it better. Just like in cooking it's not the pan that makes great food, it's the knowledge of how to use it and the ingredients.
