Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new player, I like to start off with an evaluation session to asses their current skill level and see what can be improved through a series of drills and challenges! Doing this allows me to best asses what the player can work on and how we can tailor his sessions so they can be the best player they can be!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a current student enrolled at Los Angeles Harbor College as I am pursuing a master's in exercise science! I have also been experienced in training for over 5+ years, also working for some of the best such as NBA trainer Jordan Lawley of Jlaw Bball in Irvine, CA!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have various memberships that include group sessions, one-time sessions, and private 1 on 1 training!
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching by helping out local kids in my area in high school become better basketball players! At the time I had no idea what I was doing But over time I have developed the skills to communicate more effectively and used more drills and concepts that translate better to in-game performance!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels, including youth / middle school/ high school/college / and Professional!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I was very fond of was teaching a young passionate youth player how to dribble between his legs! As a trainer and former player dribbling between your legs is something we all aspire to do at first since we see all of our favorite players do it! As young players, we all want to be just like our favorite players and emulate them as much as possible! So being able to provide him with the skill and experience of dribbling through the legs and emulating his favorite basketball players, its something I take lots of pride in!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When finding a trainer, make sure to understand who they are and what value, besides increasing your skills, they can bring to you! Results come first, but if you want to have to increase your talent level and reach a high level you need to have more than just skills! You need to learn little life lessons, develop your mentality, increase your athleticism, and have a good relationship with your trainer! It's about the intangibles as well!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How can they impact my game? What skills do they specialize in? What is their niche? How are they as a person? Will I take more from this trainer than just skill development?
