About
I have a long background with photography and am primarily focused on landscape. Additionally, I can teach basic photography theology and help students gain a working knowledge so they can pursue fine art, portrait, product, HDR, etc styles. I can also help with the back/post-production side by using Adobe Lightroom to make improvements to what the camera saw.
I personally enjoy the scouting and planning of the shoot. The time spent with friends out taking photos is almost equally enjoyable. The post side of photography is a whole other deal. It is most interesting to me when I can make a flat in-camera image turn into a completely different looking photo by applying an HDR technique, adjusting the color, or low key lighting.
Most times we say it's too bad a camera can't capture what our eye sees (sunsets, etc) but there are techniques where the computer work can turn an image into something they eye couldn't see. That brief flash of the shutter captures a moment in time that may be distracted by full motion the way they eye typically sees.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'll do a brief interview to see what the student wants to learn as well as what knowledge they may already have. Well then discuss whether we'll do a lesson in person or online. Hopefully, there's a nearby place to meet and take some initial shots.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm an audio editor/mixer by trade. Photography and videography have been hobbies although I have been paid to do both in recent days.
