Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, we start off by discussing the student's musical interests. Once we figure out what their musical interests are, we will be able to customize the most fun and efficient plan to help the student atain their goals. Every lesson comes with a custom practice video or a Guitar Pro file, to ensure quality practice time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Owner Michael McConagy, graduated from Musician's Institue in Hollywood with honors. Michael handpicks each instructor to ensure we provide the highest quality music lessons available.
We have taught hundreds of students all over the San Diego area for 8 years. Some of whom have gone on to be in touring bands or have become producers or engineers. To read more about what our students are saying about us, check out our Yelp page.

How did you get started teaching?
Owner Michael McConaghy began teaching music 20 years ago. He has a fun and unique way of teaching. He uses student's favorite music to teach them how their instrument works, as well as how music theory applies to their genre of interest. The instructors at Eravox Studios all follow Michael's approach because it is a recipe that is working quite well.
What types of students have you worked with?
We've worked with students of all ages, from 6-60+. We teach all genres of music, from classical to electronic dance music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Eravox Studios is honored to announce that we recently Mixed and Mastered a hit song for Big Mountain. We have also worked with artists like Chon, Synyster Gates, Jazzy Pha, Syco Mike, Ronnie King and many more.
We also are honored to announce that one of our students Aaron Lund, just signed a major record deal with his band, Creature Canyon. They're playing all over the world and Aaron is living the life of his dreams.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
On day one, a great music instructor should be able to figure out what one's strengths and weaknesses are, while mentally creating a strategy to guide them beyond their musical dreams.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
"How much time do I have to invest into ataning this new skill?" "How long will it take to get 'good' at something?" Let's reword that... "How bad do I want it?" When you want it bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to get it. This mental approach will have you pushing through the many different challenges every artist/musician faces.
We always encourage students to schedule practice time on their calendars. Our students have the perk of usng an automated system called TeacherZone that reminds students to practice daily, along with many other cool features.
Realize that the #1 key to rapid growth is an efficient, consistent practice routine. This takes time.
Realize that the #2 key to rapid growth is how often you learn and apply new tricks and techniques to your skill. This takes time, also.
That's why we are so stoked to show our students how to create the most efficient practices. 15-30 minutes a day adds up quickly... Especially, when you're practicing the right things, in the right way and that apply specifically to your interests!
