About

Individual or small group art lessons with focus on the things that matter. Things like composition, tone, and exploration. I believe my foundation method asks a lot of the student and they are pushed to learn foriegn methods that train the eye to see relationally.

I am a trained in watercolor, acrylics, Oil painting, and traditional back strap weaving.

I have a master's degree in painting and currently teach at San DIego Community College District.

What I love most about teaching is what the students come up with. They always surprise me with what they come up with. Its very exciting to see students realize they can learn to paint!

Katie is a friendly and challenging art teacher. She is practical and starts with the basics while also encouraging and motivating you to reach past what ever limits or expectations which may hold you back from experimenting and growing within the art making process.

    Frequently asked questions

Typically with a new student I ask them what art they like and why. Then I try to find out what their learning interests are in order to build a custom class for them.

I will ask for examples of previous work to determine needs and address strengths and weaknesses. From there we will tailor lessons to help the artist achieve their goals.

I hold a masters degree in Painting from the New York Studio Schoool of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture and and bachelors degree in Fine Art from Norther Arizona University.

I have several years teaching experience with children, adults and older adults through continuing education, public education and private lessons.

$75 for two hours includes driving up to 25 miles. after 25 miles the price is $1 more per mile.

I started my teaching career with the New York City Teacher Fellows.

I have worked with all ages from toddlers to older adults.

Look at their artist website and see if you like their work and if they make the type of art you want to learn.
