Many of my students have been with me for years, and we all welcome new painters. Their work is diverse and their progress is clear. I try to take the worry out of the room. Fundamentals are important, and so is fun. Much class time is spent with individuals at their easels.
I love Tuesday afternoons. There is warmth and camaraderie and appreciation as we explore color and composition and new and better ways to paint.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If needed, I may send out written guidelines which start with the purchase of supplies and how to buy wisely. We sometimes talk over any questions which arise.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Degrees in fine art, also in education. Years of experience exhibiting in shows in the United States.
How did you get started teaching?
I was invited.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners, intermediate, advanced. I want students to paint what they wish. I support the students and the styles they are pursuing with ample one-on-one time at their easels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a good communicator so that you understand how to develop skills. Putting miles on the paintbrush is a good way to go.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Just tell me who you are and what you want, perhaps refer to known painters whose styles you might emulate or draw from.
