Variety Tutoring
About
Hi my name is Natalie and I'm 18. I feel like I have a good grasp on General Biology, General Chemistry, and Calculus I. I just recently graduated high school and was the valedictorian of my class. I've taken both AP Calculus AB and BC, and I got a 5 on the AB exam. I've also taken AP Biology (I scored a 4 on the exam) and General Biology/Chemistry at Cal Poly Pomona. I was involved in clubs at school that involved tutoring, which were really fun. I know that this type of content can be a real struggle at times, and I'm hopeful that I can help you get through it. :) If you're trying to contact me, please send me a text message, I do not answer phone calls unless I know the number. You can also email me at [email protected] or DM me on instagram at @natatalierae
I struggled a lot to understand Calculus when I first learned it, so if I'm able to make someone else's struggle a bit easier, I will be satisfied.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to have the students I tutor provide me with some topics and example questions they struggle with prior to the tutoring session so we can be as productive as possible during the session. If I don't feel confident in my ability to efficiently help them, I will let them know so we can cancel the session. During the session, I like to go over the examples with the student and while we do the examples explain the manutia of the struggle area.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took Algebra 2/ Geometry my freshman year, Trigonometry/ Pre-Calculus my sophomore year, AP Calculus AB my junior year, and AP Calculus BC my senior year. However, due to COVID-19, I was not able to cover all BC topics, so my BC knowledge is fairly minimal. I have attended Cal Poly Pomona since fall of 2020 and have been studying Biology. From this, I have gained a lot of experience in General Biology and Chemistry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I've never done this in particular before, so I don't feel that it's fair to charge too much. I feel that $15-20 per hour is a reasonable price depending on the topic.
How did you get started teaching?
Again, I want to be clear as to avoid any confusion, I am not a teacher and have no classroom experience. I've only done tutoring through clubs at school. Additionally, my younger friends in Calculus AB frequently contact me if they have any concerns on their homework.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students that either really struggle in math or are really good at it but just can't get past one stubborn topic area.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try really hard to bug your teacher first because, in all honesty, they will probably be able to help you more than anyone and it will save you money. Try to talking to your past math teachers or other math teachers at your school.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
As a student going to ask for help, you should be prepared with clear, distinct, and specific questions to ask your instructor. You should try to work through the problem in your head and point out the part that you struggle on so your instructor can help you the best they can.
