Hi! I'm Jamie and I'm extremely passionate about English writing and I'd be happy to help students of any academic level achieve their writing goals. Whether it's essay writing, AP style writing or creative writing I'm happy to help. I currently serve as my university's Editor-in-Chief of the student publication, Zu News (zunews.com) and I previously interned as a reporter at International Business Times in New York City. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
-Have a conversation before first lesson to discover the student's needs and expectations
-Set 3 goals prior to each lesson
-Pinpoint weak points of students and create exercises to help the student excel during sessions
-Assign 1 task to student after each lesson to help them improve throughout the week

-Took AP English Literature & IB English in high school
-Journalism and English major at Azusa Pacific University with 2 semesters left until a bachelor's degree

Essay tutoring: $20.00 per hour
Journalism tutoring: $25.00 per hour
Creative writing tutoring: $12.00 per hour
Resume/Cover letter tutoring: $12.00 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
As an Editor-in-Chief of APU's student publication, my job is to assist and help staff writers and section editors excel in their writing to the best of their abilities. As a student leader, my teaching style is very colloquial and conversational to ensure comfortability of each student.
What types of students have you worked with?
High school and college level
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I was fond of was visiting a radio station in Pasadena and touring the reporters' newsroom. I love being surrounded by other journalists.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be ready to work and get better. It'll be challenging, but very rewarding in the end! I am adaptable to any students' learning style. Make your money worth your while :)
