Ray Kim
About
My name is Ray K. and I have been teaching for about 7 years and am currently working in the film scoring industry as a film composer. I love teaching as I get to see the transformation that the student goes through in both creativity and theory. If you love music and want to learn more or even create something from scratch, let me know!
As far as experience goes, I am a national member of the Emmys and some of the recent projects include AppleTV's "Lesson in Chemistry" series, Hulu's "Death and Other Details" series, Netflix's "Griselda," HBO's "Hacks" Seasons 1, 2 & 3 and more.
Here is a basic layout of what I can teach you:
Composition and Theory
Instrumentation is the fundamental understanding of the capabilities of each individual instrument
Music Notation is the fundamental communication to the musicians properly through sheet music and sheet music only
Orchestration is understanding how the color and tone shifts based on the orchestra arrangement
Software Usage
If you are interested in orchestration, I can teach you everything you need to know in Sibelius.
Logic, Cubase, Digital Performer and Pro Tools are the 4 DAWS that I can teach you to complete production, including mixing and mastering.
If you are new, don't worry! I've taught plenty of students who knew almost nothing in the beginning and are now receiving their own films and games from directors and game developers. It be mixing music for pop or trying to understand how to orchestrate, just let me know where your interests lie and we can get started at your pace.
