Welcome! As a Professional Flutist and Flute Teacher with my Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree from UCLA, I am dedicated to nurturing your musical journey with personalized flute lessons tailored to your individual goals.

I have over 10 years of teaching experience, from beginners as young as 6 years old to college students to adult amateurs. My students have won international competitions, Principal Chairs in the California All-State Honor Bands and top LA youth orchestras, and went on to Ivy League colleges.

Ms. Jo has taught me so much in my past lessons and I have improved both as a flutist and a chamber musician. Not only is my lesson informative, but it is also very entertaining as Ms. Jo teaches in a fun and enthusiastic manner. She also teaches me theory and is very informative and comprehensive. What is your typical process for working with a new student?

All students will be provided with personalized and structured lesson plans to aid with organization and plan their practicing.

What to expect: Students will receive individual training at each lesson to build strong fundamental skills in sound production, tone, technique, embouchure, phrasing, breathing, posture, and more. In addition, students will be taught strong theory and aural skills.

Students will be instructed and prepared for school ensemble placement auditions, honor band auditions, youth orchestra auditions, summer camps, competitions, and exams!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have my Doctorate of Music Arts in Flute Performance at UCLA.

I graduated with my Master's degree at UCLA and my Bachelor's degree in Flute Performance from Carnegie Mellon University.

I have first prizes in many national competitions and have performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel.
