Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Meet, find out what the issue is with their game or swing and work on 1 thing at a time until we fix it. I do request that my student work outside our lessons on their swing by practicing on a mat at home or with a bucket of balls at the range.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 2021 certified USGFT Golf Professional as well as being a former NCAA Pac-10 athlete at the University of Arizona and I have 25+ years of solid golf experience in California. I also was a coach for kids for many years in L.A. and the Valley.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $70 per hour lesson and $45 per 1/2 hour
I charge $100 for a 9 hole playing lesson (2 hrs) and the student must book our tee time and pay for both of our green fees. Unlimited instruction on the course as we play.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been helping family and friends out with their trouble spots for years. I helped them learn to Draw the ball off the tee, hit a proper sand shot and correct chipping and pitching errors which many people struggle with. I am also quite a good putter and have a simple technique that I teach to students so they get their distance and direction (the 2 "D's") down cold.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners, Kids, Ladies and guys who have played other sports which I can relate to as we have many athletes in our family.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Sitting on my deck with my Great Dane as the weather turns warm. I also enjoy family time on the weekends.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Figure out a total budget you are willing to spend for a series of lessons to improve your swing and golf game. Then, after I work with you on a trouble spot you are having, go practice what we talked about at least 2-3 times per week on your home mat or at the driving range.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what swing trouble you are having and let's attack that one issue first. If it is trouble making a good score on the course then please book a playing lesson with me so I can see you in action. Many players hit a great ball on the driving range but have trouble playing tee to green and making pars.
