Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I really like to find out what the student is interested in and then create a plan of action on where he or she would like to be six months from now
Then review his or her progress at that time with future goals towards improvement.
I Also teach on-line!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing for over 40 years. In addition to studying with Carl Verheyen (Supertramp), Jay Graydon (Steely Dan), and Alan Pasqua (Bob Dylan), I have a degree in Film Scoring & Composition from UCLA
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have a standard pricing system that I will go in to detail with when I speak with the potential student.
How did you get started teaching?
Several of my teachers suggested that I would be good at it. I have been told I am a natural teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students range in age from Six to Sixty. I am equally comfortable teaching kids as well as adults.

Looking forward to seeing Bill Frisell & Julian Lage at UCLA next week!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try one lesson each with several teachers so you can compare and contrast.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a clear idea of what your goals are for lessons. Really decide if you want to have guitar has a creative outlet as an antitote for a stressful day job. Alternatively, if you have specific musical goals that you would like to accomplish, I can help you with that as well!
