Private Gymnastics Lessons
About
As a coach, I make sure to take time to talk with my gymnasts. I not only encourage them to push their bodies, but ensure their mind keeps up too. Gymnasts have the opportunity to learn elements of physiology, physics and psychology alongside the physical skills. I believe understanding will help anyone progress faster than aimlessly throwing their bodies around.
I take the time to ask if gymnasts have questions to ensure their understanding. I use several analogies to ensure comprehension. I use demonstrations to ensure visualization.
I love seeing gymnasts of all ages achieve something they didn't think they could. Whether it be a new skill or overcoming a fear, each gymnast has a unique experience with the sport and as a coach it's so rewarding to assist in reaching those goals.
I've also worked one-on-one with gymnasts with special needs like autism, muscular dystrophy, adhd, etc. who are unable to participate in a traditional class. Seeing these gymnasts progress and their parents feel joy for their gymnast is incredibly rewarding.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With a new student, a first lesson typicaly begins with a general warmup with aerobic excercises a new gymnast is most likely familiar with. Then I move into a stretching routine that I do so the gymnast can mirror me. During this time, I explain the importance of stretching the body before performing intense physical excercises. Following this, I'll provide a short accessment for gymnasts with any experience or jump right into teaching the basics for new gymnasts.
Typically I like to make sure all gymnasts understand fundamentals like jumping, landing, pushing on hands, rolling, and kicking. These are so important to a gymnast's body awareness.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up as a competitive gymnast through 18 years old and I've been coaching recreational gymnastics for 15 years. I have experience with one-on-one private gymnastics lessons, group lessons with 6-10 young gymnasts, teen tumbling, adult gymnastics, summer camp, birthday parties.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when I was a gymnast myself beacuse I couldn't get enough gymnastics!
What types of students have you worked with?
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you'll looking for a coach that has teaching methods that meet your needs. Some recreational coaches are very hands on and spot gymnasts through every element of a lesson, which is great if you're looking to experience gymnastics and expell energy in a safe environment. Some recreational coaches are silly while others are strict. Some coaches allow gymnasts to throw their bodies around while others require focus. Some coaches can adjust to the gymnast and be all the above! It all depends what your gymnastics goals are.
