62nd and 61st Grammy Award Nominee, Ruriko Terada is an internationally-recognized, award-winning harpist and educator.
With 10 years of teaching experience, Ruriko presented and performed masterclasses worldwide, including: American Harp Society, AHS Los Angeles Chapter Masterclass, World Harp Congress, Music Academy of the West, and more.
Ruriko was selected as a 2012 Fellow at the Young Musicians Foundation Teaching Artist Program in partnership with LAUSD elementary schools. In 2013, Ruriko was awarded The Gluck Foundation Scholarship to join the Teaching Fellowship Program, an exclusive music pedagogy curriculum focused on human learning, behavior, and discipline research, under the instruction of Robert Duke, Ph.D. from the University of Texas.

Ruriko began her musical studies with at age of 3 with Jane Bastien. At the age of 6, she won the 1st prize in the Music Teachers National Association Piano Competition. Ruriko began her harp studies at the age of 13. Ruriko attended the Juilliard Preparatory Division studying with Bridget Kibbey.
In 2012, Ruriko was a prize winner at the 24th Japan International Harp Competition. In 2013, she received top prize at the 20th American Harp Society National Competition Advanced Division. In 2015, Ruriko placed 3rd prize at the 21st American Harp Society National Competition Young Professional Division. Ruriko received numerous scholarship awards including the Florence Reinauer Memorial Music Award and American Association of Japanese University Women.
Ruriko attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Académie Internationale de Courchevel, Music Academy of the West, Spoleto Festival USA, and Festival Napa Valley.
Ruriko received her Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Artist Diploma from the Colburn Conservatory of Music, where she studied with JoAnn Turovsky.
As a private harp instructor in Los Angeles for 10 years, I have taught over 20 students of all levels and ages. I manage all teaching responsibilities including: personalized lessons based on their technicality and musicality.
I incorporate and teach music theory and ear training to fully develop musical understanding; conduct end-of-semester juries as an examination; arrange recitals and performances for families and friends; keeping financial, administrative, and business records.
Ruriko is a believer in constructive goals and achievements.

I work with students of all levels & ages and students with Learning Disabilities.
With personalized private lessons based on students' technicality and musicality, I incorporate comprehensive lessons, including music theory and ear training, to fully develop musical understanding.
I have experience teaching learning disability children. Learning music is impactful for them and happy to help achieve their full potential.
