About this pro

'Vivi Wolf Private Tutoring' is run by a high school sophomore from Los Angeles, Vivian Wolfson. As a straight-A, high achieving student, Wolfson has always prided herself in her ability to convey math and English concepts to her piers. Today, she uses her talents to help elementary and middle school students thrive in their classes through her tutoring program. You can expect engaging lessons catered to each child's preferred learning style.

In addition, she studies film at her arts high school and is available to put together a fun and engaging online film workshop to entertain kids during quarantine.

Many families find themselves at a loss when it comes to quarantine-friendly activities for their children now that school is out. ‘Vivi Wolf Private Tutoring’ offers a new type of online experience. Either in small groups or individually on zoom, the Vivi Wolf film workshop is a great way to keep your child entertained and creating during quarantine.

A typical narrative filmmaking week would consist of:

Day 1: the fundamentals of story: students will learn narrative story structure and apply it in real life with fun activities.

Day 2: the cinematography scavenger hunt: students will learn different shots, angles, and movements.

Day 3: screenwriting: students will brainstorm and idea and work with the teacher to write a legitimate screenplay that they can film in quarantine!

Day 4: production: students will learn pre production and actually shoot their screenplay.

Day 5: editing: students will learn iMovie (or adobe premiere if they have access) and how to effectively tell their story through editing.

A typical music video making week:

Day 1: the art of music videos: students will participate in a music video history lesson.

Day 2: meet the artist: students will speak to a real music artist and brainstorm a video idea based on their song.

Day 3: pre-production: students will plan for their upcoming shoot with creative at home props and costumes.

Day 4: production: students will be guided through filming their music video

Day 5: editing: students will learn iMovie (or adobe premiere if they have access) and will edit their video.

Vivian is happy to work for a cheap hourly rate in order to help students who may not otherwise be able to afford tutoring.

Thank you for your time!

Watching a concept click in a students head is the most fulfilling part of my day. I love to see the same oassion I have for learning in my students.

I had a great experience with Vivi Wolf Private Tutoring. She is so knowledgeable and patient and just an amazing teacher overall. She made learning much easier for me and more fun!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I begin by sending out a quick survey for the parent and child to guage preferred learning style and study habits. The first lesson consists of getting to know the student academically and personally to set a game plan for our future work together!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I just finished my sophomore year of high school in which I took three honors/AP courses. I was awarded valedictorian of my middle school in part for my ability to help my piers. For the past 5 years I have taught Shakespeare to children with the Shakespeare Youth Festival (formally known as Los Angeles Drama Club). I also attend an arts high school where I study film at a high level.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I'm very flexible on price and am happy to cater to your individual needs!

Standard pricing:

$15 per hour for individual lessons

$50 per month (1 session a week for 4 weeks)

Film Workshop pricing varies!

How did you get started teaching?

I have always loved helping my piers in school understand new concepts. I have a love for literature and learning and am always grateful for the ability to pass that on to others.

What types of students have you worked with?

With Shakespeare Youth Festival LA, I have worked with students from ages 6 to 14 with a variety of learning abilities.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would advise students to find a fun teacher that they click with on a personal level! Learning (especially in such trying times) should be fun and nourishing.
