About
Beat Kitchen is the soup-to-nuts music production school for creatives. We are artist-instructors teaching music production, live (primarily over Zoom), in small classes.
We began with a vision: to provide a place for creatives to play with their food. We help musical mad scientists, hungry beat makers, and curious rookies learn a broad and plastic set of music production skills.
Part residency, part school, our mission is to reach, teach, and feed creative souls. Our teachers are like our students: talented, intellectually curious, and deeply conscientious. We are continuous learners, experts and beginners. Some of us are misfits and dreamers—all united in our desire to learn and explore.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We take time to get to know you so we can place you in just the right class. With targeted courses in everything from recording software, to songwriting, and engineering, we our goal is to meet you where you are at, and take you where you are trying to go.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Having taught at mulitiple audio and music production institutions and having designed their curricula, we have set out to create a home for creatives to take chances, try new ideas, and not be defined by the vocational-style institutions or by the music production popularity contest that exists in our industry.

What types of students have you worked with?
We work with all types of students. We believe that as teaching artists we must always be both experts and beginners. Not to say we are new, but that instead, we are always learning and growing. Our students tend to be the same, regardless of how much actual experience they may or may not have.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
We all teach the same topics. The difference is not what you are learning, but how you are learning it. We focus on warmth, empathy, patience, and openness. We think those are the qualities that matter most.
