About

I am a CA credentialed teacher with over seven years of teaching experience and well over a decade of tutoring experience. I specialize in the humanities and helping students reach their maximum potential as historians, writers, readers and social scientists. I give students plenty of encouragement, positive feedback and tailor our tutoring sessions to their specific needs and learning style. I am passionate about education and history and creating a safe and welcoming learning space.

I enjoy working with students one on one or in small group settings and creating an informal environment to really go through the material and help them build their confidence in the subject or in preparing for the AP exams. I know students can become overwhelmed or stressed, and so helping them with a subject they find difficult and make it easier for them is really something I enjoy.

Ms. Martinez always had a great differentiated approach to each lesson; understanding how to adapt and respond to key learning strengths and opportunities for students, and guiding them through the material in a way that was developmentally conscious, nurturing and supportive.

Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I first ask a few questions to get to know them, and see if we will be a right fit. I ask about their learning styles, struggles, and wins, as well as personal interests like hobbies, crafts etc. I want to make sure we establish a strong foundation before getting to work in the particular subject.

I have both a BA and an MA in international politics, I have received my CA preliminary credential for social studies and have over a decade of experience with one on one and small group tutoring.
