What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In the first lesson, we discuss goals and address the student's instrument and the time they have for practice.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Jose Hernandez is a professional guitarist and educator from Salamanca, Spain, where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Musicology and a Classical Guitar Teacher Certificate, as well as attending 21st-Century Music School in Madrid. He began touring and recording professionally at the age of 17. In 2003, he moved to Los Angeles, graduating with Honors at the Musicians Institute of Hollywood. In 2020, he obtained his Masters of Music in Performance from APU, studying under Michael Kozubek.

I usually charge $50/hour, $40/45min, and $30/30 min.
How did you get started teaching?
Some of my friends asked me to teach them guitar.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels and ages, from 7-70 years old. Beginners, intermediates, advanced, and professionals, including Mana's guitar player Sergio Vallin.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Running into Instagram posts of my past students. Some of them are now professional gigging musicians, and some just post videos of themselves enjoying playing guitar for their loved ones.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have specific goals of specific guitar music you want to learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are their goals, in what timeline, and how much time they are willing to put into achieving them?
