About

I've worked hard to render images realistically and was trained classically at UW, and took a figure drawing with Fred Dalkey at SCC.

My specialties are painting, printmaking and digital as well as analog photography. I have experience in ceramics, sculpture, performance, textiles and intstallation.

I focus on realizing my imagery to it's fullest psychological effect despite the style, and using printmaking to make multiples and hopefully a larger positive social impact on our world.

My favorite part about art is learning something new or figuring something out which I previously had been baffled by. In the end, art is but problem solving in layers, strategically chosen colors and balancing the entirety of the image to communicate what you want. I focus on composition and color theory.

I love printmaking and was a lab tech at Myrtle Press in Sacramento; I helped with and co-taught classes for the studio.

Self expression is the most important thing to me; that at the end of the day whether the piece is successful in anyone's eyes is nullified when something is either learned or gleaned psychologically from the piece. 💜

Jess assisted me in teaching a Pronto Plate Lithography demo and was really great, helping students when needed, but also letting them find their own way through the project.

    Frequently asked questions

I initially set up a time to speak one on one with the new student in order to establish a rapport before jumping into the nitty gritty; we should discuss their comfort level with the medium of choice as well as what they want to get out of the lessons.

I have been teaching since high school. I was a collegiate level swimmer who taught swim lessons and coached children over the course of their high school and some of my early adulthood.

I've also been training to teach art professionally so I am currently working on first my BA and eventually my Masters in fine art.

I helped instruct in printmaking on the side at a studio in Sacramento, and I co-taught specifically a Linoleum cut/relief workshop at Yoloarts in Woodland.

I price based on the needs of the student, their level, and how many lessons they are looking to invest in.

I started coaching swimming at the age of 14.

    5 and up.

I got to be introduced to a nonprofit predominantly screen printing operation in my town where I got to play in the studio!

I would say don't poo poo to someone just because you don't understand the jargon. You could be passing up someone who has extensive training. Don't let words trip you up! Art is accessible to all. We are all artists, manifestors little Gods of our own lives. We just need to tap into the experimental curious child in us to realize our full potential.
