Although I am new to lessons.com, I have been teaching in certain ways to friends and family for a long time, techniques ranging from sketchbook to oil painting to stained glass to screen printing. I have a 1600 sq/ft studio in Olde Town Arvada.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Identify the techniques and styles that the student is seeking, then create a plan, from beginners to advanced. I have the ability to mimick many styles from photo realism to impressionism so to adjust a program depending on the goals is part of the fun.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a freelance designer, illustrator, photographer and screen printer for the past 20 years.

As I mentioned earlier I have been teaching friends and family various techniques from drawing to painting to screen printing here in my studio for many years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Teaching an elementary student how to screen print her drawing onto t-shirts for her school. She was all smiles!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Just to make sure the teachers portfolio impresses you, it's natural for a student to emulate a teachers style.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is realstic in terms of timeline, people learn and develop at different speeds and being on the same page from day one is going to be best for all.
