Fran Piazza received the Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the Boston Conservatory of Music. While studying at the conservatory she had the great privilege to study with the wonderful flutists of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Boston is Fran's home town. She moved to the Denver area in 1980.

Since relocating to Denver, Fran has performed with virtually every professional organization in Colorado including the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Ballet, Central City Opera, and Colorado Music Festival. Fran has performed with everyone from Andrea Bocelli (in Denver and in Los Angeles ) to the Beach Boys. She's also performed at celebrity weddings such as those of Tim Allen and for the family of Mike Shanahan.

Her current interests are focused on chamber music, recording, and solo performance. She is currently working on her own flute method book.

Fran is a former faculty member of Metropolitan State University and Denver School of the Arts, where she was honored with the "Excellence in Teaching" award.

Fran's students are consistently accepted into All-State Band and Orchestra, Colorado Honor Band,Cherry Creek honor bands, Denver Young Artist Orchestra and many receive partial and full scholarships to colleges and universities across the country.

I have worked with Fran for almost 25 years. She is a superb flutist and teacher. I have seen her perform and her technique and sound are amazing. My own skills have improved greatly under her tutelage. Fran also taught my daughter when she was 10 and 11 and Fran is just as good with children as she is adults. I cannot recommend her more highly.

I took flute lessons from Fran for several years before going to college. Taking lessons with her gave me the confidence to give more effortless performances. We worked on technique, articulation, tone, phrasing and more. By taking lessons with Fran, I had much more confidence in my playing - leading to my acceptance into Colorado All State Band and All State Orchestra in top chair positions. Fran is just as wonderful a person as she is a flute teacher and musician. Whether youve never played flute, or are an advanced player, Fran has so much to offer to excel in your playing. I cannot recommend Fran enough if youre looking to improve your flute playing!

Fran Piazza is the perfect balance of supportive and strict. She coaches you starting from where you are to get you to where you need to be, always making sure to build a strong foundation along the way. I can say without a doubt I have never had a teacher as intuitive and kind as Fran. I’m a retired elementary teacher and I understand how important it is to meet students where they are and find the language they understand in order to learn. Fran is a natural teacher. She has high expectations, but cannot be more fun and gentle in her teaching. I’m a beginner and always feel respected. I always look forward to my next lesson. AND I like practicing because of her inspiration.
