How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching after I spent five minutes on an outdoor range with a family member who had been concealed carrying for two years. It became clear that she had never had any type of gun safety class as her hand swung the muzzle of her gun passed my daughter and niece with her finger on the trigger.
I decided then I was going to teach an many people as I could about firearm safety, I don't care if you have a gun or not. You will surely run into a friend or family member that has firearms and you should know how to safely protect yourself as well as your family.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with families with children as young as 8 years old to doctors and ex-military. Yes military, their training is very different form civilian training.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was able to use laser training guns to help a group of women to overcome the fear of guns. Several went on to shooting at a range with live fire and enjoy it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
make sure the instructors are credintialed - ask to see their credentials.
Do they own blue or laser training guns?
Do you give demonstrations
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What's the real reason for wanting a CCW or learn firearms safety.
Be honest about your level of firearms handling
