About

I am a professional watercolor artist specializing in Dia de los Muertos (skeleton) art. Fortunate enough to have parents that recognized my ability, I was enrolled in art classes from a young age. Though watercolor is my favorite medium, my experience in art covers a wide range of mediums including ink, oil, etching, sculpture, airbrush, pastel and scratch board. Passion for the arts and my ability to see potential in students fuels me. Celebrating progress, connecting with the muse and expressing emotion and ideas through art are my goals.

Teaching is a blessing to me. I SO enjoy watching the process as students learn and grow. I often learn as much from them as they do from me! Having been in childcare for well over 30 years, I have come to learn excellent communication skills. I have honed my ability to convey methods that will enhance any learner. Seeing the spark in a student's eye when things "click" FUELS me!

    Frequently asked questions

Assessing a student's experience is the first step we take. We would start with a chat (text or email works too) - so I can know in advance what goals my student hopes to achieve.  Learning what supplies, classes, books or videos a student has experienced will help me to understand the progress they have made. Supplies are an important element of success. When we meet we can assess the supplies a student has and discuss necessary basics.

My own experience as a professional artist has taught me SO much about Art from learning basic skills to marketing work online and through galleries.  The process of creating art is healing.  The expression of ones inner self an important part of the journey!  It is with great joy I am here at Lessons to help eager students!

I have worked with a range of students from toddlers old enough to hold a pencil to elderly.  Autistic and special needs have also been of special interest to me because ART is such a healing necessity.

A couple of years ago I worked with a a special needs student. Her bright attitude and raw desire to create was incredibly inspiring.

Find someone you can easily talk to and laugh with. Art should be FUN - not a grind!
