Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first start working with a student, we have a great conversation about what they want to learn or get out of our experience working together. Then we start with a simple art piece that we'll make together so that I can assess what level of experience the student is beginning from. From there, I teach a solid foundation of how to get started with an artwork. Depending on what they want to learn, we will build on this foundation each session until the student feels they no longer need my advice! I'm happy to make custom lesson plans for everyone.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've graduated summa cum laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art as a painting major and art history minor. I also studied at Studio Art Centers International in Italy. I have deep training and understanding in figure drawing, portraiture, and color theory/application. In 2021, I received 2nd place in the Colorado's Best exhibition and an award of excellence from 40 West Arts Gallery. Finalist for the 2022 Luxembourg International Art Prize.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For remote, individual lessons I charge $50 per hour. If you live nearby I can come to you for $60 per hour. Each additional student will be an extra charge of $25 per hour. 10 hours of lessons booked in advance (for 1 person) is $500.
How did you get started teaching?
I started casually teaching friends after college and then started taking official students a couple of years later.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages! I have taught middle school and high school students basic drawing and painting techniques to improve their foundation, as well as provided portfolio help for college applications. I also really love to work with adult students who have a desire to master a new skill or hobby!
