About
I like to teach my students to use their mistakes not only to learn from but to give the painting it’s character, style, and richness!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want them to have no expectations! The student will experiment with different mediums and techniques. We will think about space, value, color, and line.
I want the student to feel good and comfortable about what they’re creating, and that it’s expressing their voice!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in painting and a degree in design.
I have been a full time artist since 2004.
I taught at the Art Students League of Denver, and various workshops.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly I have worked with adults that had some experience painting, but I would love to teach beginners!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
i think everybody is creative, it’s feeling secure enough to trust your intuition that what your making is going to work! A teacher that tries to train you a certain way, or to copy something they like is probably not going to be good for your creativity!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
what do you want out of the class? What are your long range goals, short range? Do you want to paint abstraction or realism? Who’s your favorite artists, and why?
