About

I'm Wyatt, a bassist with a passion for helping every musician learn & improve. I have over 8 years of experience as a professional musician in a broad range of styles.

I specialize in incorporating the principles of practice psychology and cracking open the learning process to help my students improve faster. Whether you're a beginner just starting out or an experienced player looking to take your skills to the next level, I have the expertise and experience to guide you.

I believe that the key to success as a bassist is a combination of hard work and a dedicated love for making music. That's why I strive to create a supportive environment in my lessons, encouraging my students to explore their creativity and find their unique voice on the instrument.

If you're ready to dive into the world of bass and discover your true musical potential, I'd love to work with you! Book a lesson with me today and let's get started.

Frequently asked questions

I stay very open-minded with new students - I do my best work as a teacher when a new student comes to me with their own goals in mind and we can develop a plan of action together. Music is not a one-dimensional craft and I will always adapt my teaching to the creative tastes of every student.

I've been a professional musician for eight years and I have a bachelor's degree in jazz performance and composition. I run The Better Bass Podcast, a weekly podcast about bass playing & the learning process with listeners in 30 countries.

Base rate $50/hr, $30/30 min. Travel fees vary by location and timing.

Teaching was a natural extension of performing for me. People asked questions, I gave answers, I found I have a knack for describing musical concepts in a digestible & applicable way.

I have mostly worked with older intermediate to advanced students, some adult beginners, and many students with prior musical background picking up the bass as a second or third instrument.

It's important to determine if a challenge you're facing is physical or mental. If it's physical, start slowly & play carefully until you get the hang of it! There is nothing technical that can't be accomplished with a little time and patience.

On the other hand, the mental challenge - connecting your ears to your hands and developing a deeper understanding of music - is where the real depth of the learning process lies. I love helping my students learn music on a conceptual level and conquer psychological barriers to become better bass players.
