About
Learning to play a musical instrument is a multi-faceted experience. Using discipline to grow in technical mastery, mental capacity is broadened and self-reliance is strengthened. My role is to facilitate this process so that learning is rewarding, exciting, and fun! My hope is that exploring the rich sonorities of the violoncello will improve life in the way that is most meaningful for each student.
I come from a musical family. Music for me is a way of life. I cannot image it without song, melody, rhythm, and harmony. Sharing this and promoting instrumental skill are my greatest joys.
I hold a BFA degree from the California Institute of the Arts, a MM degree from CU Boulder, and comprehensive certification in Suzuki methodology from the University of Denver. I have played professionally for decades as an orchestral and chamber musician.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
String instruments are unique in that there are a great many small details that need to be repeated and integrated before there is much musical satisfaction. At the beginning it is important to be slow and regular, finding a very short period of time to play cello, but to be sure to play every day. Building this strong habit is the most important aspect to skill development.
