Holcomb Guitar Experience
About
I'm not like other guitar instructors, where everything is a boring drill. I've only had a few guitar instructors and I always found it so boring and kind of pointless. So I taught myself. I would teach you the way I taught myself wich will make things much easier and much more understandable rather than being so vague. When you have the tools I offer you, the feeling of accomplishment will ravage your mind and the excitement of a new skill learned will make you feel on top of the world. And the best thing? I don't really care about money so much so I will only charge you $20. That's incredibly cheap. Most places will charge anywhere from $30 to $70 and that's per HOUR! I'm doing $20 a lesson. Who needs that non sense? Plus I have the experience in touring, the business, the theory, composing, and virtuosity and I've accomplished this over the last 18 years. Students in the past praise me because I am extremely patient and I will do anything to help and work with you and I am extremely easy to work with. I will even attend your performances to support and promote you!
Well, music is a crazy thing. Constantly bringing you up and and down and left and right. But that's a GOOD thing! It's suppose to. Music is my life and nothing in my life doesn't have at least a little something to do with music. I love seeing my students being able to rise up very quickly and I love being able to spread my knowledge with others.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I find out what they want out of their craft and what exactly they want to achieve and then start from there
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I don't have formal training other than the training I have given myself. I tried having instructors before and I always found that I never accomplished anything with them and I never gained went anywhere with them. I was offered multiple college scholarships because of my understanding and my performance. I never accepted a single one, instead I went on tour. To this day I still train myself on the insane new modern guitar techniques that are new in the world of guitar
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 per lesson. I won't charge you per hour or anything like that. I'm not looking to teach to make a living. I just want to be able to share my knowledge with lesser experienced players so that they may one day take it far beyond me.
How did you get started teaching?
Playing shows. Kids in the crowd would watch me play and ask for lessons and it kind of started from there. I'm not looking to have the title of a professional teacher but I do enjoy it and it is much fun for me. Once I started teaching I did notice that most of my student get really far in a short amount of time and usually catch up to proficient or better where everyone wants to be.
What types of students have you worked with?
Younger students. I have also worked with people my own age as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recording on of my projects album. It's a very technical album filled with tons and tons of orchestration and it was an intense experience composing and improvising things on the spot and that made the record the most intense it could be
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find one that you click with. You have to be able to vibe with them. Otherwise it will be boring and pointless. Try to find someone who will give you the most out of themselves as well as someone as someone who you give the most out of yourself too. If you can't click with your instructor you won't be able to learn very well. Haven't you ever had that one teacher you hate in school? How easy is it for you to be in the class and learn the subject they teach you?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I want musically? Is this for fun or is this my dream? When do I want my results?
