Lane Morrell Original Oils
About
I have a passion to teach students how to create artwork that they get excited about and feel proud of. I'm very patient and easy going as a teacher and as a person. I try to adapt to each student's needs based on their skill level and their preferred method of learning. The cozy studio where I teach my students and hold classes is in a quiet, private setting.
I enjoy seeing my students progress and love to hear the reactions they get from friends and family when they complete their paintings. I have a couple students that sell the work they complete here in the studio which is so fun to hear about!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out what their goal is with the painting they wish to create, and I observe how they learn best. ( ie: some students prefer to be shown how to do certain brush strokes, blending, mixing, etc. where others would rather be told the step by step instructions) Then I help with step by step directions to help them achieve the desired effect.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've studied at the Scottsdale School of the Arts as well as the Art Institute in London England. I've been mentored by Carl Ortman and took a weeklong workshop with Kim English, both outstanding artists!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Kids classes are $65 for any 4 one hour long classes. There is a one time registration fee of $20 that helps me offset the cost of materials and art supplies.
Semi private kid / young adult classes are $20 per hour.
Adult private classes are $25 per hour.
Adult small group classes can be arranged as well as private painting parties for any age group, and you can bring food and beverages if you would like to those events.
How did you get started teaching?
A friend asked me to teach her children, and word got out and soon I had enough students to hold several classes each week. Later on I got a website up and then the adult students started calling for lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types of students from kids to adults. There has been such a demand for art lessons for kids that I hold regular weekly classes for them. I have also taught adults from beginner to intermediate skills. I enjoy working with all ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have held art shows for my students at local coffee shops ~ Galleries. That is always special to highlight the incredible talent and celebrate the great paintings that the students are proud of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
For me I learned that not all great painters are great teachers. I would talk to previous students or ask what the teachers method of teaching is.
