About

ICS of Colorado is not only part of the nationwide ICS brand of investigators since 1967, the Colorado office, located in Denver, also offers world class firearms training from beginners to advanced levels, CCW, and private lessons, in all weapon systems including pistol, rifle, and shotgun.

ICS accomplishes this goal by using only the best real world former military and law enforcement professionals. Our main objective is to make all our students better than when they arrived and increase all their firearm skills in a short time frame and with a proven methodology.

The lead instructor is Grant Linhart. Grant comes from the world of public safety and was part of the firearms training unit cadre staff for a police department in California. Grant was also a field training officer among other duties. Grant has the heart of a teacher and strives to educate and train his students in real world applications. The students growth in training and increasing their own abilities is paramount and they are guided every step of the way.

Grant and his staff have various training certifications from military and law enforcement entities. To learn more go to www.icsprotectiveservices.com

My staff and I enjoy seeing a new student progress through our system from novice to consciously competent in their understanding of laws pertaining to use of force and firearms, adhering to all firearm safety measures, gun handling, and increasing their abilities with speed and accuracy.

We also enjoy experienced students and keeping them tuned up and showing them some other minor nuances to make them even better.

This was an excellent gun safety training experience. The instructors are very knowledgeable and professional. The material they cover is thorough and to the point with both the inside class room portion and the hands on gun training portion. They give good input when it comes to handling the firearms and by the end of the course I felt comfortable and much more confident than when I walked in.

the instructor was respectful knowledgeable and a great teacher. His sport and corrections were always appropriate and dead on. My accuracy improved dramatically today as did my enjoyment for shooting. Thanks!

    Frequently asked questions

We always want to know the needs of all students to make sure they are in the correct class and to meet/ exceed their expectations.  We will also ask about weapons owned the students will use in class and accompanying gear to make sure the student has required items to make training more enjoyable.  We will also most definitely answer all questions and provide instructions and addresses for the class.

The ICS team is comprised of former military and law enforcement personnel with real world training and abilities that is passed along to our students for their benefit.

The Lead instructor, Grant Linhart, was on his police departments firearms training unit range staff.  Grant possesses California Post Firearms Instructor Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun certifications, Glock certified instructor, and various NRA certifications.  Grant has been a gun enthusiast since 1997 and an instructor teaching civilians and law enforcement personnel since 2007.

Grant and his team currently instruct all firearm disciplines for civilians, private govt contractors, and security personnel.

Pricing can be standard and custom to the student and or group.

Standard Pricing for all weapon system instruction-

$185 per person, 4 person minimum plus $40 range fee for the group.

In 1997 Grant started attending various firearms training courses after purchasing his first pistol.  From there the love of training and wanting to be proficient grew.  In 2009, after attending about 25 different firearm classes, Grant was selected to become a firearms instructor for his police department in California.  The department sent Grant around the country to become a certifed law enforcement instuctor.

From that point Grant began instructing at his agency and then began instucting civilians.  Grant noticed there was a gap missing in civilian firearms training.  The laws that govern firearm possession and use of firearms including use of force laws and rules were not being taught.  ICS instructs all aspects of firearms ownership and their use. Students always comment that they had no idea what they didnt know and how they never heard these things in other classes.

ICS has worked with brand new students who arrive at the range with their new weapon in the box and gear fresh from the store not knowing what to do or how to "get dressed and set their gear up.

Grant and his team at ICS have also worked with experienced students who may have been missing a small component and we were able to make them even better and or maintain their skills. Shooting is a persihable skill.  Without practise the skills can leave you.

We also work with every training level from brand new to experienced.

Grant and his team last year picked up a firearms training contract for an NGO who needs to train about 80 people in rifle handling and marksmanship.  These 80 people are all over the world.  Some were already experienced or seasoned, but a lot were not.  Most came to us in Colorado to train but we also had the fortunate experience to travel domestically and internationally to train these students.  We have conducted firearms training in Greenland, Germany, Colorado, New Hampshire, Norway, and Alaska.  It is very exciting for us to be able to take our firearms training regiment all over the globe and service our client.

A student should look for real world experienced staff who actually care about the students and meet their needs, not just collect a fee.  The staff should have real experience and not just tell war stories but give real world examples and how it ties into the instruction.  The instructors should all be able to demonstrate their own shooting abilities and not just talk the talk.  Any firearms shooting class the students should be shooting a fair amount of ammo and not just talking about shooting.  Our lowest shooting ammo count for any class is 225 rounds.  Most are more than that.  We have comeptitors where their students only shoot a box of ammo.  Sorry, thats not enough to hone your skills.

Students need to make sure they can make the investment to get started when jumping into firearms instruction.  The initial investment can be steep as their is accompanying gear that is needed.  For instance, a new student needs to buy a weapon, holster, belt, magazines, mag pouch, hearing protection, eye protection, ammunition, slings for long guns, possibly a scope, a weapon dedicated light, etc.  It adds up quick even before you pay for your first class.
