I'm also well trained in advising those who want to be pro/acting pro photographers how to improve their business. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ascertain what they want to learn. Determine where they feel their skills are lacking. Review 30 of their images to start the process of skill enhancement. Work in the field with the student to grow their skills.
