About

Learn to fly safely at a non-control tower airport. No tower, no ground control, short distance to the runway... spend your $$$ flying, not taxiing and waiting for takeoff clearance. Airplane and glider training to rating completion!

Introductory single flight and local scenic flights are also available.

I volunteer for Civil Air Patrol as a mission pilot and checkpilot examiner. I also serve the CAP Cadet Program as a flight instructor for our 12-21 year old cadets, having soloed over 650 in airplane and 450 in gliders. As a member of Experimental Aviation Association (EAA), I have completed over 600 EAA Young Eagle flights. Ask me about EAA and CAP!

I am retired from 43 years of computers. I teach flying because it is my passion! I have over 5000 hours of dual instruction given.

I fly for personal reasons and enjoyment, for example, I have gone to the EAA AirVenture "World's Largest Fly-in" at Oshkosh, WI over 38 times, and "Sun-N-Fun" over 28 times. I use General Aviation to fly to Lake Powell for Houseboats and to Hot Springs around the Western United States. I teach Mountain Flying for several organizations.

My passion is enabling others to fly, aviation's future is our youth... I I feed that. You had an aviation facination when you were young... you are now in a position to find out more... let's get together for an introductory flight and tickle that fancy... You KNOW you want to do it! I'm ready... you are, too!

Frequently asked questions

We meet for an introductory flight, and also discuss your style of learning, RE:  visual, verbal, coaching, self-study, formal ground school, 1:1 private tutoring.

I serve as an FAA Safety Team member, effectively a volunteer safety focused person at the airport.  I am a member of SAFE=Society of Aviation and Flight Educators.

Discounts for enrolled students, high school and college, Civil Air Patrol members, "rusty pilots" and current and past military.

With my mountain search and rescue flying for Civil AIr Patrol, other pilots asked for tips and techniques.  Over 9000 hours and I'm still here, and teaching!

I work with the youth, having soloed over 650 CAP cadets in airplanes (16 years old or older) and 450 in gliders (14 years old or older).  I also work well with older folks, being over 65 and retired, conducting many Flight Reviews and Instrument Proficiency Checks.

I teach the Colorado Pilots Association's Mountain Flying Course several times a year.  Getting a new mountain pilot close to the terrain and flying the lift up at over 1000' a minute demonstrates that the techniques and safety we teach works!

Go for an introductory flight with several operations to see how they fit your wants and needs.

Ask what the national average time to certification is... and what their student's average is.  I am an engineer, I keep "on task".  I do not need any more flying time.  I am not going to the airlines.  I need YOU to complete your certificate safely and efficiently.  Ask which syllabus they use, and why.
