About
GMTHEODOREPHOTOGRAPHY owns two businesses under its banner: American Nature Photography Workshops (ANPW) formed in 2011 and THEO FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY formed in 2018.
Under ANPW, I have led nature and travel photography workshops and tours worldwide. I have taught the basic fundamentals of exposure and composition and more advanced topics such as creativity, design and vision. As a result I have helped many from beginning to advanced students. My teaching "career" started when I retired (2002) from my first one as an Electrical Engineer. That background gave me a sound technical foundation and my experience in public speaking gave me the tools and methods to explain photography in easy to understand terms.
I'm not only passionate about doing my own work but even more so in teaching. I'm thrilled to see a student's photography grow from fundamentally sound to something expressive.
I have taught people with only a basic "point-and-shoot" camera to those with the latest equipment with many years of experience. My experience encompasses over 60 years with a camera in my hands and I have shot eveything from urban to nature. Starting in film days, I progressed from a basic rangefinder camera, to SLR's to DSLR's and, as of five years ago, to mirrorless. I have shot mostly Nikon and Fuji.
I have used Adobe Lightroom since its inception and have taught sessions on that software. I am also well versed in Adobe Photoshop and various plug-ins for both Lightroom and Photoshop.
I created a 55 page "Class Notes" with various topics that I have given away free to our workshop and tour participants.
I have little experience in portrait photography and would not accept such assignments.
Under these pandemic times, I can do on-line zoom or in-person, with masks and appropriate distancing, outdoors as weather conditions permit.
