About
I'm a very hands on coach and I try to explain in all three styles: auditory, visual, and application. We're going to work on skills and take more than one apporach to see what works best and what sticks or is able to click for the athlete.
I love that I can use my own life experiences to help athletes grow in their game. By having the ability to play at the collegiate level and work with players ranging from the ages of 18-25, I have the ability to break the game down at the base level or get into more intricate details of understanding situational awareness. My background in strength and conditioning allows me to help an athlete understand how to move their body to be as efficient as possible so I'm able to take a comprehensive approach at developing their game!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When i first get started with a new client, I like to see how they move first while we throw, they swing, how they block or receive before I start going into any drill work. Once I've made an evaluation through my observations, I can work with them to build a game plan to help them be more successful!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played college baseball at Indiana Wesleyan where I caught for the program and have been a personal trainer for the last 5 years and a strength coach for baseball players for the last three years. As a strength coach, I hold the following certifications: NSCA-CPT, USAW- LVL1, and Precision Nutrition.

How did you get started teaching?
I first started teaching as a personal trainer. I fell in love with helping people achieve their goals and that's what led me back into coaching. Being able to work with youth athletes has always been a passion and to have the ability to mold young minds and teach them how to play the game the right way is very rewarding!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with every kind of position player, although my strengths are catching, hitting, weights, and infield work. That being said, I have plenty of experience working with pitchers to make adjustments and understand how to move effienciently. I've caught roughly 1000 bullpens in my life and I'm the kind of guy who asks questions so I understand and can relay that information in a game. Where I lack is probably outfield experience.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When working on hitting with one of my ten year old athletes, we talked about positioning in the box and when to move the back foot to be more aggressive to the ball. The following weekend he hit a homerun and looked at his dad and said, "the back foot moved!"
When it clicks for a kid and they get wide eyed because they understand the adjustment or why it's important and how to recreate that movement is a great feeling. Seeing them get as excited with the result is why I do what I do.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you mesh with the coach. Everybody has their own way of teaching but make sure you find a coach who can relay the information in a way that you can understand it. Look for a coach who makes the session fun and productive so that you enjoy the process. And lastly, look for a coach who has your best interest in mind and that cares about you as a person just as much as one of their athletes.
