My teaching approach:

I am an experienced performer who is able and eager to share his skills with developing guitarists. I have taught thousands of lessons and have the best advice for your progress. I have the ability not only to identify what is holding you back in your playing, but to explain how you will overcome these issues. Every lesson pushes you and inspires you.

David Russell, Andres Segovia, Mark Knopfler, Claude Debussy, Vasily Kandinsky, Ayn Rand, Alex Komodore and Michael Newman.

The teacher's studio or the student's home

Fingerstyle, Performance, Improvisation, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

The first lesson will include you and I getting acquainted and setting goals that we can achieve for your learning. I assign songs (pieces) and technique exercises to build your confidence on the guitar. You leave knowing exactly what you need to do in order to improve.

Following my program, which has helped hundreds of students, we will advance through repertoire and technique development in an orderly way. I emphasize the importance of making music, not just playing the guitar. Your guitar is a vehicle for self expression, not an end in itself. I solve all of your problems and keep you on the path of advancement so that you don't get discouraged in this challenging but very rewarding endeavor.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

An ideal student is open to his or her teacher's lessons and practices every day. The fastest and most successful students are curious, dedicated and patient. Everyone is a musician. To become a musician with the guitar requires these aspects.
