About

I'm new to the Golden, Colorado area, but I've taught for over 10 years and have a lovely studio space on the edge of Golden and Lakewood.

I love getting to pass on and encourage others to delve into their creativity and that excitement comes across.

I am a good listener and I like to discover what my students want to develop within. Then I find ways to assist them with their goals, from learning the basics to honing in on a particular theme or skill. Most of all I want to help them hone in to what they most love.

I've had the opportunity to host an art instruction video. You can view this sample lesson at https://vimeo.com/248926946.

For fun, check out this time lapse video of me painting a tribal bumblebee: https://vimeo.com/224500174

I love infusing students with a love for art and their own creativity!

Plus, I love painting. :)

Christina is an incredible artist and excellent teacher. I didnt have much faith in my artistic ability, but I have been looking to improve my skills with acrylics - because I just love to paint scenes of the ocean. I cannot believe how quickly she was able to improve my overall ability - plus, shes just fun to hang out with. Its great to work with a teacher who just really loves what they do and knows their stuff. Thanks, Christina! Excited to learn more.

    Frequently asked questions

I try to discover what the students' goals for their lessons might be.  Knowing more about the student helps me to know how best to instruct.  Art isn't like learning to read.  It is subjective and often motivated by individual desire.  So to know the individual is to better know how to steer the lessons.

As mentioned, I'm a former Elementary Teacher, which helps with understanding the learning process.  Keeping it fun, though, is something that comes from the fact that I left teaching and became an artist.  I love doing art, and that's another huge facet that relates to doing what I do well.

    Let's chat.

Actually, Miss Rickert discovered my artistic ability in 5th grade and encouraged me to give weekly drawing lessons to my peers.  It went pretty well, but...ahem...I like to think I have more to offer these days.

All ages.  And I've taught video art instruction classes as well.  I just like people.  Age doesn't really affect that.

I recently attended Denver Pop Culture Con and had a blast selling alongside a fellow artist and graphic novel creator.  I look forward to publishing the graphic novel I am currently working on as my own pet artist project.
